Volata Beta — Quick Questionnaire

About 2 minutes · invite-only

Thanks for your interest in testing Volata, an iPhone running & walking coach we've been building — Android is on our roadmap. This first beta is on iPhone; your answers help us put together a small early group. — The Volata Team

Questions marked Required have to be answered; everything else is optional.

1. Your name and email Required
2. What iPhone do you use, and what iOS version is it on? Required

iOS version: Settings → General → About

3. Do you own an Apple Watch? Required

There's no Volata app for the Apple Watch yet — this helps us prioritize.

4. What do you currently use to track runs or walks? Optional — select all that apply
5. If you use Strava or Garmin: how important is it that a new app connects to it? Optional

Strava and Garmin sync aren't available in Volata — this helps us prioritize.

6. Which best describes you right now? Required
7. Do you work with a coach, or follow a training plan from somewhere else? Required
8. In a typical week: how many runs or walks, and roughly how far in total? Required
9. Volata can read your workout history from Apple Health (with your permission) to personalize your plan. Comfortable with that? Required
10. If the app crashes or freezes, Volata sends us a small technical report so we can fix it, and once a day it sends a short report on what the app cost your battery. They carry technical and diagnostic details only — never your name, email, or anything you record. One switch covers both, it's on by default, and you can turn it off in the app's settings. OK with that? Required
Exactly what a report contains

A freeze means the app stopped responding to your taps for a noticeable stretch. There are two kinds of crash report. For a crash inside our own code it's the error type and the lines of code involved. For a native crash or a freeze it's the low-level details the operating system hands us: which pieces of software were running and where in them it happened (framework and file names, internal reference IDs and offsets, and function names where available), the crash's technical type, and, for a freeze, how long the app was unresponsive.

The once-a-day report is a different thing: no error, just counters and timings about the app itself, which iOS measures for us and hands over roughly once a day. How much processor time the app used, how long it was awake and in which state, how much data it moved over cellular and Wi-Fi, the average screen brightness while the app was on screen, and how much time the app held each level of location accuracy. Those location figures are lengths of time only — never a coordinate, never a route, never a place. We keep a daily report for 90 days and then delete it.

Every report also carries your app version, platform, OS version, device type, and the time. A crash or freeze report never includes your messages, location, name, email, or anything you record. They're tied to your beta account, used only for debugging, and never shared.

11. Could you use Volata as your primary tracker for 4+ weeks? Required
12. Comfortable installing via TestFlight and sending us quick feedback (~2 min/week)? Required
