Volata™

A running coach and tracker in one — a plan that bends around your real life.

Tell Volata your race. It builds your training plan, then — as your runs and walks actually go — offers you a reshaped week and tells you why, in plain words. Nothing changes until you say yes.

What Volata does

A coach that writes your plan and a tracker that records your runs — in one app, working from the same picture of your training.

A plan that offers to bend around your week

Pick your race — 5K, 10K, half marathon or marathon — and Volata builds a full training plan around it. New to this? Choose a 5K as your first race and Volata offers you a beginner build-up instead of a racing plan: walk-run intervals that grow week by week, and no pace targets at all. Miss a week or come back tired and Volata offers you a reworked few weeks to protect your build, showing you exactly what it wants to change and why. Accept it, or carry on as you were.

Track every run and walk

Record your runs with GPS and watch them come together on the map — your route, your splits, your pace, all saved. On a treadmill, switch to Indoor and Volata times the run instead of tracking it: no GPS and no map, just the clock — and you can type the distance in afterwards if you want it. Run, walk, or mix the two; Volata records it either way.

A voice in your ear, not just numbers on a screen

Volata talks you through the run: "Start run" the second you tap go, your splits called out as they land, and a word when you've drifted off the pace your plan asked for. If today's session calls for 5:30/km and you're running 5:05/km, you hear about it while there's still time to fix it. Pop your phone in your pocket and just run.

Your history, built in

Connect Apple Health and Volata picks up the runs, walks and rides you've already logged — with the heart-rate data that came with them, if you share it — so your plan starts from where you really are, not from a blank slate. Switch on write-back and the runs you record in Volata are saved to Apple Health too — your history stays in one piece. You choose what to share; the write-back switch lives in Volata, and you can revoke what you've shared any time in Apple's Health app.

Build your own workouts

Want a session that isn't in your plan? Build your own — warm-up, intervals, recoveries, cool-down — or start from a ready-made template and change what you like. Either way it saves to your workout library, ready and waiting whenever you feel like running it.

Sensible limits you can see

Your mileage never climbs more than 10% in a week. There's a rest day in every single week, an easier week every third or fourth at around 70% of the load, and a proper wind-down before race day — three weeks of taper for a marathon. Your plan is checked against those limits before you ever see it, and a plan that breaks one doesn't get built. And whenever Volata wants to change something, it shows you what it would change and why. Nothing happens behind your back, and every change is yours to accept or skip.

How it works

Three steps to a plan that fits you.

Tell us your goal

Your race and date — 5K, 10K, half marathon or marathon — plus a little about how you run today.

Get your plan

Volata builds a full week-by-week plan around your goal, with the pacing, rest and long runs worked out for you. Beginner 5K build-ups use walk-run intervals with no pace targets.

It offers, you decide

Record your runs and Volata keeps up — suggesting changes to the weeks ahead when training isn't going to plan, and telling you why. Every suggestion is yours to take or leave.

Your plan is yours. Volata never changes it — it only ever suggests.

Who it's for

Whether you're chasing a time or lacing up for the first time, you're welcome here.

Goal racers

Training for a 5K, 10K, half marathon or marathon and want a plan that holds up when life gets in the way.

Returning runners

Getting back into it after a break and want to rebuild at a sensible pace, not from a generic plan.

Run-walkers

Mixing running and walking on purpose. Planned walk-run intervals are what a beginner 5K build-up is made of — that's where Volata writes them into your plan. And whatever you're training for, Volata records a run where you mix the two properly: a real way to train, not a fallback.

Walkers curious about running

Walking regularly and wondering about your first run? Pick a 5K, tell Volata it's your first, and you get a beginner build-up — walk-run intervals that stretch a little each week, and not a single pace target.

Where the beta stands

Volata is in invite-only closed beta. We'd rather be straight with you about what's ready and what isn't.

What's here today

  • On iPhone now, via TestFlight — Android is on our roadmap.
  • Free during the beta — no payment and no ads.
  • Plans that offer to adapt, run & walk tracking, audio cues, custom workouts, and Apple Health import.

Not there yet

  • No Apple Watch app yet. You record from your iPhone. If your Watch already logs runs to Apple Health, Volata picks those up — but there's nothing to install on the Watch.
  • Strava and Garmin sync aren't available. Volata doesn't connect to either service.
  • No web dashboard. Volata lives on your phone.
  • No one-tap export in the app yet — email us and we'll send you a copy of your data.
  • No social feed, followers or leaderboards. Volata is your coach, not a network.
  • Android is on the roadmap — no release date yet.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes — Volata is free during the closed beta. No payment, no ads, and we don't sell your data.

Is it iPhone only?

For now, yes. The beta runs on iPhone through TestFlight. Android is on our roadmap, but it isn't open to testers yet.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. You can record runs and walks straight from your iPhone. There's no Volata app for the Watch yet either — but if your Watch logs runs to Apple Health, Volata picks those up.

Does it work if I just walk?

Absolutely. Record walks, mix running and walking, or — if a 5K will be your first race — start with a beginner build-up made for a first run. Walkers and first-timers are welcome here.

Is it AI?

No. Your plan is built by a training engine that follows established coaching principles — how your pace is set, how gradually your mileage goes up, when you rest, take an easier week, or wind down before a race. It's all worked out by rules, not by a chatbot. There's nothing to chat with; Volata is a coach that writes your plan and suggests changes to it — every suggestion comes with a reason you can read, and none of it happens until you say yes.

What data do you collect?

Enough to build your plan, suggest changes to it, and record your runs — and, if you connect it, the workout history you choose to share from Apple Health. We don't sell your data. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

Ready to run with a plan that fits your life?

Join the invite-only beta and help shape Volata. It only takes about two minutes to tell us about your running.
